April 26, 2005:

The legislature reached its second deadline today - passage of bills from the first house. Any bill not passed out the first house cannot receive any further consideration, with the exception of those bills that have a fiscal note and must go to the Finance Committee.

The following list includes updated information from the prior posting on April 18th (you can follow the link to the bill's web page):

  • SB 80 - Establishes requirements and procedures for consumers to place security alerts and security freezes in certain files maintained by credit reporting agencies. Voted in favor in committee and on the floor - passed and is pending in the Assembly.

  • SB 129 - Requires a legislator who is a public officer or employee to take an unpaid leave of absence during a regular or special session of the legislature. Voted in favor on the floor - passed and is pending in the Assembly.

  • SB 173 - Increases the amount of the homestead exemption to $300,000.00. Voted in favor on the floor - passed and is pending in the Assembly.

  • SB 212 - Limits time for commencement of certain morning classes in high school. Voted in favor in committee and on the floor - passed and is pending in the Assembly.

  • SB 247 - Revises provisions on the live entertainment tax by adding the tax to "adult entertainment" venues and removing the tax from all other venues except those with an unrestricted gaming license. Voted in favor on the floor - passed and is pending in the Assembly.

  • SB 268 - Requires school administrators to spend time in the classroom each semester. Voted in favor on the floor - passed and is pending in the Assembly.

  • SB 461 - Revises provisions regarding education to increase accountability and student achievement. Voted in favor in committee - was re-referred to Finance.
